New Delhi: Indian opening batter Shubman Gill bagged the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s player of the month award on Monday. Gill was nominated alongside New Zealand’s opener Devon Conway and his teammate Mohammed Siraj.

Gill dominated white ball cricket

The Gujrat Titans batter was in brilliant run in all the formats of the game. Gill dominated the white-ball cricket with his amazing form and a fruitful Test tour of Bangladesh in December where he slammed his maiden Test hundred.

Gill got his maiden T20 call during the three-match home series against Sri Lanka where he scored 7, 5 and 46. He then, managed to score 207 runs against the Islander, including 70 and 116 in the first and third game respectively.

Gill register double ton

The right-hander played his career’s best performance till date against New Zealand in Hyderabad where he scored his maiden One-Day double century. He became the fifth Indian to register an ODI double-hundred after Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma (thrice) and Ishan Kishan.

The 23-year-old rounded off the series with scores of 40* and 112 – the latter being his fourth ODI ton to go with five fifties in 21 innings to date – as India swept the New Zealand by 3-0.

Equal Babar Azam’s record

Gill’s aggregate of 360 is the joint-highest ever for anyone in a three-match bilateral ODI series, equalling Babar Azam’s record against the West Indies in 2016-17.

After his dominance in One Day cricket, Gill returned for T20 series against New Zealand. The opener then, smashed a 126* off just 63 deliveries in the third match in Ahmedabad to extend an enviable run.
With this, he became the fifth Indian batter to score a hundred in each of the three international formats alongside Tendulkar, Rohit, Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli.
