For the second consecutive year, GT, led by Shubman Gill, will don special lavender jerseys to show support for cancer awareness. “As sportspersons, we are aware of our social responsibility to our fans and the community at large. Wearing these lavender jerseys unites us with cancer fighters and honors their courage. Together, we hope that our efforts will contribute to a world where the burden of cancer can be overcome through awareness and education,” said GT Skipper Shubman Gill.

The selection of lavender, representing various types of cancer, serves as a poignant reminder of the numerous individuals impacted by this illness. By donning lavender jerseys, GT intends to promote awareness about the significance of early detection and prevention, highlighting the pivotal role that lifestyle modifications can play in fighting cancer. This endeavor is part of a broader campaign to address the disease, which ranks as the second leading cause of death globally, resulting in approximately 9.9 million deaths in 2020 alone. In India, there has been a notable 26% increase in cancer incidence over the past decade, with a projected 12.8% rise expected by 2025 compared to 2020.

“Cancer affects countless lives, and the lavender jerseys are a small gesture on our part to the cause. The jerseys are a symbol of our support for cancer patients and survivors, serving as a reminder of the need for preventive measures and early diagnosis to win the battle against cancer. Together with our fans, we hope to create a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by cancer,” Colonel Arvinder Singh, COO of Gujarat Titans said.
