Birmingham: India judo player Sushila Devi has sailed into finals of 48kg category after winning against Mauritius player Morand Priscilla in the semi-finals.
Earlier in the day, Suchika Tariyal reached the bronze medal match of the ongoing CWG2022 after winning the repechage game against Breytenbach Donne on South Africa.
Along with that, Jasleen Singh Saini has also reached the bronze medal match after losing the game of semi-finals against Allan Finlay of Scotland.
Previous records of Sushila Devi
Sushila Devi Likhmabam hails from a humble background in Manipur. Sushila’s first major national title was the gold medal win at the Junior Nationals, in 2008, following it up with an Asian Youth bronze medal, later that year.
Likmabam became the first Indian Judo player to get selected for the Tokyo Olympics. Devi Bagging a Silver Medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, Scotland. She also brought home a Gold Medal at the 2019 Commonwealth Judo Championship. Sushila won a silver in Hong Kong in 2018 and 2019.
On Monday, the women quarter won their semi-final game against New Zealand and reached their maiden finals.
