The seventh match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season will see Chennai Super Kings (CSK) facing off against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday, March 26.
This game marks a rematch of the IPL 2023 final, where CSK emerged victorious in a thrilling last-over encounter against GT. Both teams enter this contest on the back of wins in their respective season openers. Chennai secured a victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the season’s curtain-raiser, while Gujarat Titans, the IPL 2022 champions, triumphed over Mumbai Indians by six runs in a nail-biting encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 24.

Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans have faced each other five times in the Indian Premier League. Their first encounter occurred during the IPL 2022 season on April 17, with Titans emerging victorious by three wickets at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. They clashed once more in the same season on May 15, with Titans prevailing over CSK once again, this time by seven wickets.

The third encounter between CSK and GT served as the curtain-raiser for IPL 2023, with the then Hardik Pandya-led Titans securing a 3-0 lead after winning by five wickets in Ahmedabad.
As the IPL 2023 season progressed to its business end, the two teams crossed paths once more. CSK delivered a significant blow by defeating GT by 15 runs in Qualifier 1, earning a spot in the summit clash. Subsequently, in the finals, CSK triumphed over the then-defending champions by five wickets (via the DLS method) to clinch the title.
