The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is all set to resume on Saturday with a match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. RCB’s star batter Virat Kohli was present with the team on Friday during its practice session. The franchise even uploaded a video on social media showing Kohli playing some superb shots.

However, a report has now claimed that Kohli was unhappy with the sound system being used at the venue during practice. According to the report, the player became annoyed, and as a result, the music had to be turned off.
“Nearly an hour and a half into RCB’s training session at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday, Virat Kohli joined the batting group for a hit. A couple of crisp straight drives and pull shots later, there was a brief break in play. He wasn’t happy.
His arrival at the practice pitch, even in an empty stadium, coincided with the sound system blaring the RCB team song. He conveyed his annoyance to enough people around him to get it shut down and restore silence – interrupted only by the sound of the ball hitting the bat and the ambient conversations,” reported Cricbuzz.

First match after Test retirement
This will be Kohli’s first game in competitive cricket since announcing his retirement from Test cricket – a move that shocked the cricketing world, especially given his deep passion for the format. He had earlier retired from T20 Internationals in June last year, following India’s triumph in the T20 World Cup.
Rain-marred match might decide the fate
A washed-out game on Saturday could seriously dent KKR’s playoff hopes. The three-time champions currently have 11 points with two matches remaining. If the game is abandoned and points are shared, they can reach a maximum of only 14 points – a tally that may not be enough to secure a playoff berth. One of their earlier matches this season, against Punjab Kings (PBKS), was also abandoned due to rain.
For RCB, the situation is more comfortable. Even if Saturday’s game doesn’t take place, they remain in a strong position to qualify for the playoffs and even contend for a top-two finish.
