Hardik Pandya’s unavailability for the Mumbai Indians could prove fatal for the 5-time champions who will be looking for another captain before the season begins.
With former skipper Rohit Sharma being the clear option for most of the Mumbai faithful, the team could also look at other directions in terms of finding a new leader for the team.
Contendors for MI Captaincy
With experienced players like Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma in the squad, MI could be tilting in different directions.
With Suryakumar Yadav given the T20 captaincy for Team India in the recent series against Australia and South Africa, the management could be looking at him as a future Mumbai Indians skipper as well. He has been in scintillating form recently and also scored his 4th T20I century against South Africa.

Mumbai and India’s spearhead Jasprit Bumrah can also be seen as a good replacement for Hardik, with the pacer leading the bowling attack for the side for some years now.
Bumrah has also been given the vice captain role in Team India’s upcoming Test series against South Africa.

With that being said, no one can ignore Team India skipper Rohit Sharma’s legacy of 5 IPL titles with Mumbai and with the fans rooting for the Team India skipper, the reigns would most likely be handed back to the Hitman himself.
