The board had last month appointed sports apparel giant Adidas as the new kit sponsor of Team India. Companies in the real-money gaming sectors, including betting, cryptocurrency, and tobacco, have been barred by the board from bidding for the sponsorship rights of Team India. Byju was paying BCCI Rs 5.5 crore for each bilateral match and Rs 1.7 crore for each ICC match, but BCCI is likely to get fewer offers from the new deal than the previous sponsor.
