BCCI Central Contracts 2025: The veteran Indian star batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are set to retain their Grade A+ contracts with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) despite having retired from T20I cricket last year.
In the 2023-24 annual players’ retainership, both the current and former captains, along with Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah, were placed in the top bracket.
According to reports from Times Now, despite Rohit and Virat no longer playing all three formats, their central contracts will remain unchanged as a mark of respect for their exceptional contributions to Indian cricket.

Shreyas Iyer To Make Comeback
In contrast, Shreyas Iyer is expected to make a comeback after being dropped from the central contract list in 2023-24. The star batter had a fallout with the selection committee after he refused to play a Ranji Trophy match for Mumbai, following his exclusion from the Indian Test squad after the second Test against England. He had cited a back injury that kept him from playing red-ball cricket. Since then, Shreyas has played a key role in India’s victory in the 2025 Champions Trophy, where he was the team’s highest run-scorer with 243 runs from five innings.
Wait Continues For Ishan Kishan
Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan’s wait for a return to the central contract list continues. The wicketkeeper-batter, who also lost his contract alongside Shreyas, is unlikely to be included in the upcoming batch of central contracts for the 2024-25 season.
Kishan hasn’t represented India in any format since November 2023. He returned to India midway through the South Africa tour, skipped the entire 2023-24 domestic season, and made his comeback in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). He also played for Jharkhand across all formats in the 2024-25 season and was part of the India ‘A’ squad that toured Australia for two first-class matches.
