Delhi Capitals’ IPL 2025 unbeaten run ended on Sunday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where Mumbai Indians registered a nail-biting 12-run win to inflict Axar Patel’s team with their first loss of the season. The loss was followed by a fine for Axar, who also drew disciplinary action from the BCCI for a slow over-rate during the game. According to the IPL Code of Conduct, the DC captain was fined after the violation.
“As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Patel was fined INR 12 lakhs,” the IPL media release read.
Coming into the match with four wins on the trot, Delhi were comfortably placed at the top of the points table. But Mumbai’s victory provided them with a much-needed boost and dropped Delhi to second position.
Pursuing a stiff target of 206, DC looked in command at 135/2 before the tables turned drastically. Karun Nair, playing his first IPL game in three years, was in scintillating form as he scored 89 off 40 balls. However, once Karun’s innings came to an end, the middle order crumbled.

Veteran leg-spinner Karn Sharma triggered the collapse, and Delhi’s innings unravelled to end at 193. Mumbai sealed only their second win in six games, getting their campaign back on track.
