Bajrang Punia Being Targeted Following Protests Row Against Former WFI Chief?

Olympic medallist Bajrang Punia, who had been previously suspended by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), has once again been provisionally banned as of Sunday, June 23. Earlier, Bajrang’s suspension was lifted by a disciplinary panel due to the lack of a notice of charge. However, NADA has now issued this notice and reinstated the suspension for the Olympic bronze medallist.

Bajrang Punia Suspended By NADA Once Again

“Yes we have received the notice and will certainly respond to it. Last time also, we had attended the hearing and this time also we will file our reply. He hasn’t done anything wrong, so will fight,” said Bajrang’s lawyer.
“Chaperone/DCO had duly approached you and informed you that you were required to provide a urine sample for dope analysis parposes. Even after several requests made by the DCO, you had refused to provide your urine sample on the ground that you would not provide the sample unless NADA replies to your email regarding the issue of expired kits, which were used by the concemed DCO who had come to collect the sample of the Athlete for the dope test about two months ago. Following your refusal to submit to sample collection, the DCO of NADA had also explained to you in detail, about its consequences and outcomes under the NADR, 2021.”
“Lastly, the NADA may, at their discretion, also elect to recover from you the finance costs associated with the ADRV and or impose a fine as provided in the NADR, 2021. Provisional Suspension,whereas the Ld. Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel has revoked the Provisional Suspension that was placed on you on 23.04.2024 until NADA decides to issue a Notice of Charge or formally charges you for violation of Anti-Doping Rules, 2021.

According to NADA, Bajrang had refused to provide a urine sample during the trials in Sonipat on March 10, leading to his initial suspension for a doping rule violation. Bajrang’s lawyer, Vishuspath Singania, informed India Today that Bajrang has until July 11 to respond to the notice.
