New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the promotional video of One Day International (ODI) Men’s World Cup 2023 on Thursday, July 20, which is scheduled in the October-November window. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) has been featured in the promotional video titled “It Takes One Day” which is going to be held later this year.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also shared the video on its official social media handle. The ICC said, “the video campaign aims to connect emotions from all over the world to ‘Navarasa’ that symbolises the nine emotions that fans experience during the match.”

“The first match of the World Cup tournament begins on October 5 and is slated to conclude on November 19 this year,” the official announcement stated.

Shah Rukh Khan features in video

Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, popular cricketers like South Africa’s JP Duminy, India’s young talent Shubman Gill, Dinesh Kartik and former England’s World Cup winning skipper Eoin Morgan, Muttiah Muralitharan, Jonty Rhodes and Jemimah Rodrigues all feature in the advertisement campaign.

Video targets fans emotion

The video featured all the decorated moments in World Cup history. The video aims to show the raw emotion of both fans and players which they experience in the one-day format. The nine ‘Navarasa’ are anguish, bravery, glory, joy, passion, power, pride, respect and wonder – and explore how it takes one day to experience this rollercoaster.

What ICC CEO said?

ICC CEO Geoff Allardice said he is excited about the ICC World Cup in Ahmedabad and he is thrilled to launch the promotional video that featured Shah Rukh Khan.

“This campaign is a true celebration of One Day International cricket and builds a sense of anticipation of what we can expect when the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 returns to India. The emotions, or Navarasa, are felt by fans and players alike during One Day and this campaign brings to life that shared experience,” Allardice said.

“Cricket and cinema are at the heart of the Indian psyche, and we’ve infused the two to create appeal far and wide. The involvement of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan together with an exceptional line-up of cricketers will only help us deepen our connection in this country while captivating the attention worldwide,” he added.

“The ODI format holds an unparalleled significance with its ability to deliver thrilling moments, intense battles, and unpredictable outcomes that will truly captivate fans globally. As we embark on this journey, we are proud to see the launch of the Men’s Cricket World Cup campaign and create real excitement for the event across the world, “BCCI president Jay Shah said.
