The Israeli-Hamas conflict shows no signs of de-escalating. In a move aimed at further raising the scale of the conflict, the Lebanon based pro-Iran Hezbollah group has begun to indulge in military provocations against Israel on its northern border. Adding fuel to the fire, is several Arab countries condemning Israel but not saying a single word critical of the brutal massacre of innocent people Hamas has carried out. Iran, the country being accused of assisting Hamas in the attack against the Jewish state, has openly come out in support of Hamas terrorists. Turkiye, a major Miuslim country but a member of Nato has not said things that seem to douse the blaze. Meanwhile, the US has sent its most powerful naval assets in waters close to Israel sending out the message that if push comes to shove, it will stand by Israel.

Similarly, scores of other western countries have said that they will always have Israel’s back. As expected Israel seems determined to avenge Hamas violence with all the strength at its command. As per the latest report coming from Tel Aviv , Israel could launch a ground invasion of Gaza any time to accomplish its goal of wiping out Hamas elements for good. With primordial emotions excited on both sides, many analysts wonder if the present conflagration in West Asia could be a possible precursor to a third world war. Incidentally, it is significant that India, a fledgling world power, has cast its lot with Israel underlining its commitment to help those at the receiving end of unprovoked violence.
