Panic Attack: Symptoms

If any person gets a panic attack, then the heartbeat of that person suddenly increases. This is a critical situation that can happen to anyone, anywhere. In this condition, a person has to face problems like excessive sweating, shortness of breath, suffocation, dizziness and abdominal cramps.

Why does a panic attack come?

  • Taking drugs
  • Having a brain problem or trauma
  • Being stressed about anything
  • Drinking too much caffeine
  • Fear for some reason
  • Overuse of alcohol or drugs
  • Reliving a traumatic event in the past

How to get relief?

If someone is having a panic attack, keep talking to them and give them a place to sit. Talking and sitting will calm their mind, which will give them relief from this attack. Along with this, offer them cold water to calm their mind.

Cold water activates the parasympathetic nervous system to keep the person calm. Also, pour water on their hands or feet or apply cold water around their face and neck. Doing this will also give them relief. You can also use the grounding technique.
