Panguni Uthiram 2023: One of the most important holidays for Tamil Hindus in India is Panguni Uthiram. When the Nakshatra Uthiram or Uttara Phalguni is prominent, which is in the month of Panguni, it is observed. The Tamil calendar’s twelfth and last month is called Panguni. Panguni month is referred to as Meena month in several solar calendars.
The full moon and Nakshatram Uthiram are in harmony on this day. On this day, the majority of celestial marriages are supposed to have occurred. At Panguni Uthiram, Goddess Parvati wed Lord Shiva, Goddess Deivayanai wed Lord Murugan, and Goddess Sita wed Lord Rama. Since Sri Deivayanai wed Lord Subramanya on this day, it’s a happy day for followers of Lord Subramanya. On this day, hundreds of worshippers visit every Murugan temple.
Panguni Uthiram 2023: History & Significance
Panguni Uthiram is a very significant religious and spiritual figure. Hindu Tamilians claim that on this day, the moon will pass over Uthiram Nakshatra in the month of Chaitra. There were several lucky celestial weddings in the Panguni Uthiram.
This day, often referred to as Gauri Kalyanam, honours the union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati as Goddess Gauri. When Goddess Lakhsmi first emerged on Earth with the churning of the sea, the day is significant for weddings.

Puja Vidhi
Early in the morning, devotees take sacred baths while clothed immaculately clean.
The idols of Lord Shiva and Lady Parvati are decorated with lovely clothing, jewellery, and flowers.
Following the puja, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati get married. Afterwards Prasad and marriage proposals are offered to the Lord.
They offer homemade Prasad to the idols and worship Lord Murugan as well.
Worshipers who observed a fast later that evening break it by partaking of prasad.
