Onion Jam Recipe: Ingredients
- Chopped (1 kg onion)
- Butter (1/2 tbsp)
- Black pepper (1 tsp)
- Brown sugar (2 tbsp)
- Chili Flakes (1 tsp)
- rosemary leaves
- Salt (1 tsp)
- balsamic vinegar (3 tbsp)
- Oil (1 tbsp)
Method
To make onion jam, heat oil in a pan. Along with this, heat some butter as well. After this, mix chili and rosemary leaves and cook for two minutes. Now put onion in the pan and cook it on low flame. After cooking for about 15 minutes, lower the flame completely. Now cook for about 12 minutes till it turns golden in colour.
After this, add black pepper, brown sugar, balsamic vinegar and salt and cook on low heat while stirring for about 15 minutes. Cook till all its water dries up. Switch off the gas after the color changes and the water dries up. In this way onion jam will be ready.
You can store it in a clean glass jar. You can sprinkle rosemary on top. Fill it in an air tight container and keep it in the fridge. It can be used for one month. Apart from bread, this jam can be used with burgers, rolls or wraps or sandwiches.
