Mutton Khichda Recipe: Ingredients
- 500 gms wheat (cracked and cooked tender)
- 1 cup rice and channa dal (each)
- 1 cup split arhar/tuar daal
- 1 cup sabut masoor dal
- 1 cup dhuli moong dal
- 1 kg mutton
- 1 cup oil
- 5 cloves
- 5 peppercorns
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp cinnamon (broken)
- 1 cup onions, chopped
- 4 tsp chilli powder
- 2 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- to taste salt
- 2 tbsp ginger-green- chilli-coriander leaves paste
Method
Cook the rice and dals together in 3 cups of water with salt to taste till soft.
Heat the oil, then add the cloves, peppercorns, cumin, and cinnamon and sauté until they change colour slightly.
Combine the onions, mutton, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala, salt, and green paste in a mixing bowl.
Stir fry until the beef is opaque, then pressure cook until soft.
Simmer the meat, wheat, and dal mixture for 2-3 minutes before serving garnished.
