Mahavir Jayanti 2023: Every year, Mahavir Jayanti is celebrated with a lot of zeal and fanfare all across the world. It is one of the most significant religious festivals of the Jain community and is known as “Mahavir Janma Kalyanak.” The birth of Lord Mahavir, the final and twenty-fourth Tirthankara of the modern Avasarpiṇī, is commemorated. The festival falls in either March or April according to the Gregorian calendar.
The parents of Lord Mahavir were King Siddhartha and Queen Trishala. However, the Swetambar Jains disagree over the exact year of his birth; they claim he was born in 599 BC, while the Digambar Jains assert that he was born in 615 BC. The Jain community will commemorate Mahavir Jayanti on April 4 this year.
