Diet Tips for PCOS: PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) is a common lifestyle illness that affects millions of women on a daily basis. It might cause irregular periods, menstrual pains, facial hair growth, weight gain, and even mood swings. Fortunately, PCOS can be controlled with the appropriate diet.

Lovneet Batra, a celebrity nutritionist, recently took to Instagram to share what you should eat if you have PCOS. These short and easy food guidelines should help you manage PCOS and menstruation troubles in the long run.

In the caption she wrote, “Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common female endocrinopathy, affecting as many as 15% to 18% of women of reproductive age.”

Diet Tips for PCOS

  • Fruits and vegetables are essential for weight loss as well as PCOS control. Every day, Lovneet Batra recommends eating at least five pieces of fruit or vegetables. This gives the body the necessary fibre content. “Aim for at least 35-40 grammes of high fibre every day,” she advises.
  • Protein is also a great supplement to the PCOS diet. The more protein you consume, the better your satiety and insulin sensitivity.
  • Try to limit the amount of fat in your diet. “Eat no more than 30% of daily calories as healthy fats (ghee/avocado/olive oil),” urged Batra in the article, while limiting saturated fat to 10% of total calories.
  • The dietitian also strongly advised PCOS patients to consume omega-3 fatty acids. “They increase fertility, control hormones, improve insulin sensitivity, and help prevent the growth of facial hair!” she boasted.
  • Sugar, according to Lovneet Batra, should be avoided by persons dealing with PCOS. This is due to the fact that sugar induces inflammation and raises insulin levels in the body.
