Yes, apart from Vitamin-C, many other properties are found in Amla. If you are fond of eating pickles then you can make Amla pickles. It is very easy to make, and the ingredients can be found easily at home or in the market.

Amla Pickle Recipe: Ingredients

  • Cumin (1 tsp)
  • Fennel (2 tbsp)
  • Amla (250 grams)
  • Mustard Oil (250 gm)
  • Asafoetida (half teaspoon)
  • Turmeric Powder (2 tsp)
  • Fenugreek seeds (2 tbsp)
  • Mustard seeds (2 tsp)
  • Kashmiri red chilli (2 tsp)
  • Red chilli powder (2 tsp)
  • Green chillies cut lengthwise (7 to 8)
  • Salt to taste

Recipe

Note: The most important thing is that the gooseberry should be juicy. So keep in mind that the gooseberries you are going to use for making pickles should be juicy.

  • To make an amla pickle, first, wash the amla thoroughly. After this, keep the amla in a big vessel to boil. Add turmeric powder and a little salt to it and let it boil for about 10 minutes.
  • If the gooseberry seems soft, turn off the gas. The best way to identify this is that the slices of gooseberry start separating on their own. Now take out the gooseberry from the water, keep it in a bowl and cool it. After this, separate the slices of gooseberry.
  • The second and main step is to make the pickle masala. For this, first grind cumin, fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds and fennel in a mixer. On the other hand, keep a pan on the gas, add mustard oil according to the ingredients and heat it. After heating the oil, turn off the gas and leave it to cool.
  • In the third step, put the wok again on the gas and add Kashmiri red chilli powder, turmeric, asafoetida and powdered spices to it. After this, add long chopped green chillies, red chilli powder and salt to it. After this turn off the gas. Now leave it for about 7 minutes.
  • After this, with the help of a spoon, stir the oil spice once and then add boiled gooseberry to it. After mixing it well, leave it covered for about 5 hours. Use an air-tight container to store. In this way, the gooseberry pickle will be ready.
