Yogi Adityanath Targets Congress Over Inheritance Tax; Talks About ‘Jizya Tax On Hindus’

During a public meeting in Firozabad in support of BJP candidate Rajveer Singh, Mr. Adityanath pointed out that the Congress' manifesto included a proposal to allow minorities the freedom to choose their food preferences.

On Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath compared the Congress’ “proposal” for an inheritance tax to the jizya imposed on Hindus during Aurangzeb’s rule. He also accused the party of promoting cow slaughter.

Yogi Adityanath gave a statement from Lucknow

According to a press statement from Lucknow, he stated, “Most Indians refrain from consuming beef, yet certain individuals purposely promote cow slaughter to provoke them.” Mr. Adityanath accused a new version of the Congress-SP alliance of proposing an inheritance tax, likening this proposal to Aurangzeb’s imposition of the jizya tax on Hindus.

The controversy surrounding inheritance tax arose when Sam Pitroda, chairperson of the Indian Overseas Congress, discussed inheritance tax in the US while addressing the issue of wealth redistribution. However, the Congress distanced itself from these remarks.

In Etah, Mr. Adityanath supported BJP candidate Vishwadeep Singh during a rally. He stated in the rally that Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar opposed religious-based reservation, yet he alleged that the Congress aims to impose Taliban-like governance with the goal of “Islamising” India.

He further warned, “By taking such actions, the Congress is deliberately trying to create division in the country once more. Be cautious of the alliance between the Congress and the SP. These parties intend to prioritize reservation for Muslims over backward castes and Scheduled Castes.”

He stated that voters must choose between those who “betray” Lord Ram and those who are devotees of Ram.

UP CM’s Show In Mainpuri

During a roadshow in Mainpuri, Adityanath accused the Congress and the SP of attempting to redirect reservation benefits for SCs, STs, and OBCs to minorities.

The press note quoted Mr. Adityanath as saying, “The SP-Congress alliance is involved in a conspiracy to regress India to slavery. They are scheming to diminish the reservation benefits for Scheduled Castes, tribals, and backward castes, diverting them to minorities.”

At a roadshow in Mainpuri supporting BJP candidate Jaiveer Singh, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister made the remark. Mainpuri is an SP bastion where people standing atop bulldozers showered him with flowers amid chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’.
