To improve safety on the Yamuna Expressway during the foggy winter months, the speed limit will be lowered from 100 km/h to 75 km/h between December 15 and February 15.
This change is part of a broader set of initiatives by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) aimed at reducing accidents caused by poor visibility in foggy conditions.
An official emphasized that these steps are a proactive measure to reduce the risks associated with adverse weather conditions and ensure the safety of commuters traveling on the Yamuna Expressway.
Directed The Concerned Operator:
YEIDA recently instructed JP Infratech Ltd, the expressway’s operator, to take immediate action to enhance safety.
Key Measures:
- 1. Installation of new speed limit sign boards
- 2. Distribution of pamphlets
- 3. Increase public awareness
- 4. Refletive tapes on the Expressway
- 5. Install fog lights on entry and expit points to impove visibility
YEIDA also acknowledged the heavy traffic, especially on weekends and holidays, and emphasized the need for seamless toll operations to prevent congestion during these peak times. In light of this, the authority has directed the operator to closely monitor traffic flow to ensure smooth movement, especially in the winter season.
