A woman in Delhi was stabbed to death by her 15-year-old neighbor during an argument about using a shared water tap in their building. The teenage girl has been arrested by the Delhi Police and will face the Juvenile Justice Board.
The stabbing occurred in Delhi’s Farsh Bazar area. The police were notified around 11 pm on April 12 by the victim’s husband, Satbir, who reported that his 34-year-old wife had been stabbed in the abdomen and required medical assistance.
A police squad hurried to Gali no 2, Bhikam Singh Colony, and discovered the victim, identified as Soni. In addition to the stab wound, Soni had also sustained multiple cuts on her left hand. She was promptly transported to Hedgewar Hospital, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
During the investigation, it emerged that earlier that day, Soni and Satbir had a verbal fight with their neighbor and her daughter, the accused girl, over using the communal tap on the first floor of their residential building.

The police stated that during the confrontation, Soni allegedly twisted the girl’s hand, prompting the latter to seek medical treatment at Hedgewar Hospital. She was treated as a non-Medico Legal Case (MLC) patient, and an X-ray of her hand was performed.
Upon returning home with her mother, the girl engaged in another altercation with Soni and Satbir later that night, during which the accused allegedly stabbed the victim. As per the police, the first floor of the building comprises four houses, three of which are occupied by different families, while the fourth is utilized by the owner.
The occupants of these four houses share a common toilet and a common tap. Additionally, there’s a small area adjacent to the tap that tenants utilize for washing clothes and utensils.
On the day of the incident, the accused girl’s mother was filling a tub with water for washing clothes, but the victim wanted to use the space to wash her utensils and removed the tub before it was filled.
This disagreement over the use of the space was the underlying cause of the argument that escalated later that day. Similar disputes have arisen among the tenants in the past, but none of them were formally reported to the police.
