Jharkhand has seen quite a lot of downs and downs after ED sacked Hemant Soren in the land scam case. Now, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Soren’s sister-in-law Sita Soren, who is an MLA from Jama, has resigned from Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Sita Soren, a third-time MLA in the family and the elder daughter-in-law of Shibu Soren was reportedly upset by her treatment in the party. She submitted her resignation alleging disregard and neglect in the party after the demise of her husband late Durga Soren. She stated that her husband made a big contribution to the revolution for Jharkhand but everything changed for her and her family post his demise. She assumed that things would fall in place gradually but it never happened. She added that the party her husband worked tirelessly for is no longer the same, the approach and objective of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha have changed now.
After joining BJP, Sita Soren says, “I worked for the party (JMM) for 14 years but I never got the respect I deserved from the party. Due to this, I had to take this decision (to join BJP). Expressing my confidence in PM Modi, JP Nadda ji and Amit Shah ji, I joined the BJP today.… pic.twitter.com/wPHLKpMoD0

Sita Soren also cited conspiracy against her and her family for her resignation.
Why did Sita Soren do so? What compelled her to leave an inherited party just before the general elections?
Politics in politics?
Sita Soren was upset for quite a long. She felt that her husband was the one who put the maximum effort in the party among the three Soren brothers despite which she wasn’t allowed good participation in the party or power. Though she was designated as the general secretary of JMM, her decisions were never given much importance.
Three-time MLA but no ministry
She’s not a new face in politics but has reigned as an MLA for a good three times. However, her career graph couldn’t fetch her a ministry portfolio even after Hemant Soren left and Champai Soren was given the steering wheel.

Family tussle: Kalpana Vs Sita
Kalpana is the younger daughter-in-law in Shibu Soren’s family, she’s a newbie in politics. Whereas Sita is an expert, but when Hemant Soren had to be replaced, there was a buzz all around that Kalpana would be given the chair. It was Sita who opposed this decision and eventually, Champai Soren bagged the opportunity. The sudden involvement of Kalpana Soren in the party made the elder sister-in-law a little restless as she was never granted her due recognition.
