Uttar Pradesh: A Muslim youth has been thrashed on suspicion of stealing a mobile phone in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. It is alleged that three men attacked the youth and forced him to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’. The accused also made a video of the entire incident, which went viral on social media. After the video went viral, the police arrested two suspects.
The incident occurred on June 13. The accused were arrested on Saturday after the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of the victim’s family reached the city. According to the complaint lodged at Kakod police station, the victim, Sahil, was standing at the bus stand in the village on June 13 when three youths came and forced him to sit on a bike and took him to an isolated place.
The accused started asking the victim questions about a stolen mobile, to which Sahil said he did not know about it. After this, the accused tied the Muslim youth to a tree, shaved his head, and was beaten up. After this, the accused forced Sahil to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’.

As reported, Sahil managed to flee from the spot and reach the police station. He claims that after learning about the matter, the police refused to act and arrested the accused. Sahil and his family allege that the police intimidated and pressured them to withdraw the complaint.
On June 17, the victim’s parents approached the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of the city to complain. Sahil produced the viral video of the attack as evidence to support his claims. Following her complaint, the police started an investigation and arrested three accused.
Bulandshahr ASP City SN Tiwari said, “It is learned from the viral video on social media that a youth of the same village was mercilessly thrashed on suspicion of theft. Two of the accused have been arrested based on the complaint of the victim’s family, and further legal action is being taken.”
The victim’s mother, Noor Bano, said that the accused kept threatening her. They are domineering people, and they keep threatening us. We are poor people, and my son is a painter. Sahil’s father also demanded justice for his son.
