Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has sent a list of six names to the governor for MLCs to be nominated to the Legislative Council. The list includes Dr Tariq Mansoor, Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University and Saket Mishra, son of Nripendra Mishra, who was Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
BJP’s former Braj region president Rajnikant Maheshwari, Varanasi district president Hansraj Vishwakarma, Scheduled Caste Finance Development Corporation chairman Dr Lalji Nirmal and Azamgarh’s Phulpur Pawai assembly seat contestant Ramsurat Rajbhar names are also in the list.

As per the information, the Raj Bhavan will soon decide on these names and give its approval. The seats of nominated MLC were lying vacant since April-May last year.

Through the list of nominated MLCs for the Legislative Council, the BJP has also tried to implement its agenda with the workers. In the list sent to the Raj Bhavan, the party has put faith in its old comrades and has also simplified the caste equation. The names of the six MLCs include two OBCs, one Dalit and one Pasmanda Muslim. By taking a Vaishya and a Brahmin along with him, he has also maintained the trust of the traditional voters.
