A potentially catastrophic situation was averted when a freight train left Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir without driver. However, it was later stopped near Unchi Bassi in Dasuya, Punjab, after covering a distance of roughly 80 kilometers.

A video circulating on social media captured the train moving without a driver along a railway track, reaching considerable speeds. Reports suggested that the train was traveling at approximately 100 kilometers per hour before being brought to a halt using emergency brakes.

He also noted that officials from the Ferozepur railway division were on their way to investigate the incident. Media reports attributed the train's movement to the natural downward slope towards Pathankot in Punjab. Additionally, the divisional traffic manager of Jammu confirmed the initiation of an investigation into the incident. Several users shared footage of the train after it was stopped near Uchi Bassi on social media. Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of injuries or casualties. Railway Police ASI Gurdev Singh highlighted that all railway crossings along the route were rapidly closed for road traffic, and diverse mechanical approaches were employed to decelerate the train. He also indicated that officials from the Ferozepur railway division were en route to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
