A mother and her four-year-old daughter met a devastating end on Friday when a speeding tempo collided with them and others while they were asleep near their shack in North Delhi’s Majnu ka Tilla. Additionally, three more individuals sustained severe injuries in the tragic road mishap.

As reported by PTI, the Delhi Police was notified about the tragedy via a PCR call, which they received at 5:33 AM. The caller informed them of a tempo striking three individuals, including a woman, near Majnu ka Tilla, 56 Pahadi, Civil Lines. Responding promptly, the police arrived at the scene to find five injured victims. The Tata Ace tempo, allegedly involved in the incident, was also discovered at the site.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi reported that Subhash (30) and two children, aged six and 17, suffered minor injuries and have since been discharged from the hospital.

Meanwhile, the accused driver, identified as Dinesh Rai, a resident of Karawal Nagar, was apprehended by the public and subjected to assault, according to the police. A case has been registered under sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC (Indian Penal Code), with further investigation underway, as stated by the DCP.

In another similar incident, a 14-year-old girl and three occupants of the vehicle were injured after a speeding Honda City car overturned near Ghitorni Metro station in south Delhi. The incident took place on Wednesday and a case of rash and negligent driving causing injuries was registered against the accused at Fatehpur Beri police station.
