New Delhi: Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanad Rai on Wednesday informed Rajya Sabha that a total of 84,866 posts are vacant in Central Armed Police Forces.

In a written reply to a question, Nityanand Rai said that a total of 84,866 posts are unfilled in Nation’s Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) against the sanctioned 10,05,520 posts as on January 1, 2023.

The Minister of State Home, however, explained that the vacant seats in Armed Forces arise due to retirements, resignations, promotion, death, and the creation of new posts.

In the past five months, 31,785 personnel have been recruited in CAPFs, the minister said.

Border Security Force – 19,987 vacancies

Central Industrial Security Force – 19.475 vacancies

Central Reserve Police force – 29,283 vacancies

Indian Tibetan Border Police – 4,142 vacancies

Sasatra Seema Bal – 8,273 vacancies

Assam Rifles – 3,706 vacancies
