Ghaziabad: A shocking incident has come to light from Ghaziabad, where three people have been arrested for using a gay dating app to lure people into sexual activity. They entrapped people, filmed their intimate acts and blackmailed them with videos to extort money. Police informed that three have been arrested, while two accused are on the run.
How Did The Gang Run?
The gang used to target men and engage in conversation with them on a gay dating app. The accused used to take victims into confidence and invited them to a rented flat with promises of sexual encounters. Once they entered and got into compromising position, they were filmed by other men who were present at the flat. They were later threatened with legal trouble and blackmailed to send money.
The incident came to notice when a complaint was filed with the police. The complainant revealed that he had connected with someone on Grindr. He had gone to meet him at a flat. They started getting intimate during their meeting. They were later filmed by people who suddenly entered into the room. Those people then blackmailed and forced him to transfer Rs 1.40 lakh into an account. After getting blackmailed, he approached the police and registered the complaint.
What Did The Police Say?
NDTV quoted, ACP Ghaziabad, Swatantra Kumar Singh who stated that they filed a case and tracked the accused. “We received information that the accused would be near NDRF road today. We set up a checkpost and arrested the accused. Rinku is the mastermind of the gang. The other accused are Shubham and Ajay. Ajay had connected with the complainant and lured him to the flat. Two people are on the run and they will be arrested soon,” added the ACP.
Police informed that they are investigating the case to ascertain whether they blackmailed others in past too.
