New Delhi: Congress leader Sachin Pilot will observe a day-long fast on Tuesday to press for ‘action on corruption’ carried out during the previous dispensation-led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vasundhara Raje.

Pilot paid floral tributes to social reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule in Jaipur ahead of his day-long fast.

The Congress leader refused to call off his protest despite the party leadership stating that “Sachin Pilot’s fast is against party interests and is anti-party activity”.

Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, AICC Incharge, Rajasthan wrote the letter to Pilot late-night saying that he never rasied the issue with the party earlier and invited him for “calm talks”.

“Sachin Pilot’s fast is against party interests. I have been AICC incharge for the last 5 months but he never spoke with me regarding the issue. I appeal for calm dialogue as Sachin Pilot is an indisputable asset,” read the letter issued by the Rajasthan AICC In-charge.

Time To Take Action On Corruption Charges

Earlier on Sunday, Pilot alleged that he wrote to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot twice over taking action against BJP leader Vasundhara Raje on corruption charges during her tenure in the state, which was levelled by leaders of the grand-old party itself.

However, he added that he did not recieve response to any of his letters. Pilot said the public would ask why the Congress did not take any action even after being voted to power.

Having passed four and a half year, Pilot said, it should it be the time to launch an inquiry in corruption charges against previous BJP-led government.

Party Hints At Disciplinary Action, Few Conrgess leaders Support Pilot

Chhattisgarh minister and Congress leader TS Singh Deo backed up former Rajasthan CM Pilot by sympathising with the cause of the protest.

He said, “At the time of elections, Sachin Pilot must be feeling that the public will demand an answer from him as be had said that there was a lot of corruption in Vasundhara Raje’s government and he will get it investigated but he did not get it done.”
