A women secured a job in railway in Rajasthan but now she has been suspended after her husband alleged that a proxy candidate took examination on her behalf which lead to an investigation by the authorities.
Sapna Meena, a pointsman at Sogaria railway station in Kota, was suspended after her husband, Manish Meena, filed a complaint. “The investigation is ongoing,” said Saurabh Jain, Senior Divisional Commercial Officer of the Kota Division.
Manish stated that he helped his wife with her education and supported her preparation for the railway recruitment exam. He accused a relative, Chetanram, of arranging a proxy candidate for Rs 15 lakh. Manish claimed he had to mortgage land to pay for it and that a railway employee named Rajendra acted as an agent. The proxy candidate, Lakshmi Meena, is said to have taken the exam for Sapna and helped her get the job.
Sapna left him six months after securing the jon in railway, telling him that she could not stay with an unemployed person. He claimed that when he confronted Chetanram, he was deceived again, paying an additional Rs 9 Lakh for a job that never materialised as per Manish.
Manish later filed complaints with the railway’s vigilance department and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Authorities searched places in Karauli, Kota, and Alwar, seizing documents connected to the case. Investigators discovered that a fake photograph and identity were used in Sapna’s recruitment process.
The CBI has opened a case against Sapna and the alleged proxy candidate. The investigation is still ongoing.
