The transport department is planning to introduce duty timing for commercial vehicle drivers, said UP Transport Commissioner BN Singh. The “Road Safety Challenges and Solutions” campaign has been launched in Gautam Buddha Nagar, in which it was announced that duty timing would soon be implemented.
According to officials, a health checkup for commercial drivers and breathalyser tests will be conducted at toll plazas to ensure that no driver operates a vehicle after consuming alcohol.
The Transport Department aims to reduce road-related fatalities within the district. Due to the rising number of deaths in road accidents every year.
Road Safety Awareness In Gautam Buddha Nagar
These campaigns began with a green flag at a road safety event held at Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra on Saturday, where Singh was the chief guest. The initiative aims to deliver important road safety messages to the public.
The commissioner expressed his gratitude to the citizens of Noida, acknowledging their intelligence, and emphasised that the rules being formed in the district could serve as a model for other areas. He encouraged the creation of a proactive environment through social media to promote helmet and seatbelt use while driving, believing this would help raise public awareness and reduce road accidents.
It was also informed that vehicle registration certificates (RC) in Uttar Pradesh would soon be issued in plastic rather than paper, making them waterproof. Preparations for this initiative have already begun.
