Karnataka Election 2023: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will address a poll rally in Kolar, the same place where he made a controversial statement over ‘Modi surname’ in 2019.
He was convicted of criminal defamation for his remark which resulting him being disqualified from his Parliament membership.
According to information, Rahul will arrive in Bengaluru on Sunday morning, and travel to Kolar to address the ‘Jai Bharat’ rally.
In the evening, the former AICC President will inaugurate the newly built “Indira Gandhi Bhavan’- an office and auditorium with a seating capacity of 750 people – near the Pradesh Congress Committee office in Bengaluru.
AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, General Secretary in-charge of Karnataka and National Spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala, KPCC chief DK Shivakumar, and former chief minister Siddaramaiah will likely to be present at the event.
The rally was first scheduled on April 5, but due to poll preparation and the candidate selection process, it is now scheduled for April 16.
A surat court on March 23 sentenced him to two years in jail in a 2019 criminal defamation case over his “why all thieves have the Modi surname” remark. A day later, Rahul was disqualified from the Lok Sabha from the date of his conviction in the matter.
