New Delhi: Union Minister Anurag Thakur Monday hit out at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi saying that the latter can never be Hindu supremacist VD Savarkar.
Thakur said, “Rahul Gandhi can never be Savarkar as the latter would never go to abroad for 6 months. Savarkar would not want to take leave after every session. He was dedicated towards the freedom of the nation.”
He added that, “Rahul Gandhi insulted Veer Savarkar along with India’s former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi’s and Nehru ji. He could have saved their prestige.”

Joint Opposition Protest
Thakur’s remarks comes on a day when the joint Opposition walked in to the Parliament wearing black attire to protest the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha.
Earlier in the day, a meeting was held in the chamber of Congress chief and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge where they chalked out a strategy to raise the Adani issue.
During the meeting, the leaders of Trinamool Congress (TMC) were also there. The move was welcomed by the Congress chief. It should be noted that the TMC was observed distancing itslef from Congress after it decided to contest 2024 Lok Sabha elections without the support of the grand-old party.
