In a distressing incident at the Hanumangarhi Temple in Ayodhya, a 44-year-old priest was discovered dead on Thursday. His throat was brutally slashed within the high-security zone of the Ram Janambhoomi premises. The victim has been identified as Ram Sahrey Das.
Authorities have claimed that this horrific crime may be the result of an individual with inside knowledge, as there were no signs of forced entry into the priest’s room. Senior Police Superintendent Raj Karan Nayyar indicated that Das resided in a room adjacent to the Hanumangarhi Temple alongside two disciples, who have become the prime suspects in this case.
Nayyar disclosed that one of the suspects was currently under interrogation, while the second remained at large. To expedite the investigation, Nayyar noted that four separate teams had been assembled to locate the second suspect.
The authorities received information about the incident at approximately 7 a.m. When Das failed to appear for morning prayers, his body was discovered. Das served as one of the priests at the Hanumangarhi Temple.
As initial reports suggest, Das was the victim of a violent assault involving a sharp-edged weapon, though law enforcement agencies had not yet managed to retrieve the murder weapon. Police sources have revealed that Das may have had a dispute with his disciples on the preceding night, and they are currently working to establish the exact motives behind this heinous act.
