On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed his happiness as the President Of India, Droupadi Murmu elected Indian educator and former chairperson of the Infosys Foundation, Sudha Murty as Rajya Sabha member.

Taking the matter to X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi wrote that the work of the former chairperson of the Infosys Foundation Sudha Murty in the field of education, social work, and philanthropy have been inspiring and commendable.
He also underlined that the presence of the Indian educator in the Rajya Sabha is a testament to our ‘Nari Shakti’, illustrating the strength and the potential of women in shaping our countries destiny.

Who is Sudha Murty?
Born on August 19, 1950, Sudha Murty is a renowned Indian educator, author, former chairperson of the Infosys Foundation, and philanthropist. She married to the co-founder of one of the biggest It company – N. R. Narayana Murty.

In 2006, Murty was awarded the highest civilian award of India – Padma Shri, for social work by the government of India. Later in 2023, she was awarded the third highest civilian award in India – Padma Bhushan.
