New Delhi: German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is on a visit to India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met with him at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. Both leaders discussed strengthening bilateral ties between the two economic powers.
The External Affair Ministry shared a tweet just before the meeting and said the two leaders would talk about economic cooperation, strengthening ties, and closer cooperation in the defence sector.
“The focus of the talks between the two leaders will be on strengthening bilateral relations, green and sustainable development partnership and strengthening economic ties and closer ties in defence,” Arindam Bagchi, official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, said in a tweet.

The two countries already have ‘good relations
Olaf Scholz arrived in New Delhi today for a two-day (25-26 February) official visit to India. He is accompanied by senior officials and high-powered business delegates. Scholz said that the two countries already have “good relations” and expressed hope that we will hold an in-depth discussion on all issues related to the development of the two countries.

Earlier, PM Narendra Modi received Scholz at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The two leaders met officials and ministers of both countries. During his visit, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will hold a meeting with President Draupadi Murmu. He will go to Bengaluru on 26 February.
