Ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Puri on Thursday slashed the prices for petrol and diesel across the country by Rs 2.
The general elections are slated to take place in April-May this year.
Taking the matter to X (formerly Twitter), the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated that new fuel prices will come into effect from 6 am on March 15 in the country.
Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have informed that they have revised Petrol and Diesel Prices across the country. New prices would be effective from 15th March 2024, 06:00 AM.

The Ministry further said that this reduction in fuel prices will help boost consumer spending along with reducing the operating cost of more than 58 lakh heavy goods vehicles running on diesel, 6 crore cars, and 27 crore two-wheelers of the country.

In Delhi, the current price of petrol per litre stands at Rs 94.72, while diesel is priced at Rs 87.62 per litre. In Mumbai, petrol is priced at Rs 104.21 per litre, and diesel at Rs 92.15 per litre. Moving to Kolkata, petrol is priced at Rs 103.94 per litre, and diesel at Rs 90.76 per litre. In Chennai, the price of petrol per litre is Rs 100.75, while diesel stands at Rs 92.34 per litre.

Puri hailed the decision taken by the Centre on X and wrote that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has one again proved that his only goal is welfare and convenience of his family of crores of Indians.
