National Conference leader Omar Abdullah takes oath as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. The oath-taking ceremony took place at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar on Wednesday.

Leaders from the INDIA bloc, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) chief Farooq Abdullah, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh, and others were present during the ceremony.

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief Tariq Hameed Karra announced today that the Congress Party will not be joining the Ministry in the Jammu and Kashmir government at this time. He further emphasized that the party has strongly demanded the Centre to restore Statehood to J&K. He noted that the Prime Minister has time and again promised this in public meetings. However, the Statehood has not been restored and the Congress party will not be joining the Ministry at the moment, he added.
