Noida: Ganga Water Supply Affected For Four Days In THESE Sectors- Details Inside

Noida’s Ganga water supply is facing a four-day disruption due to urgent repairs on major pipelines in Sectors 63 and 121.

The Ganga water supply will be disrupted for four days, until June 13, due to repair work in the pipeline network in sectors 63 and 121, by the Noida Authority. The works are anticipated to impact 195.8 million litres per day (MLD) of Ganga water. Noida receives 240 MLD Ganga water from the Upper Ganga Canal, which is about 60 percent of Noida’s daily water needs of 407 MLD.

“There are leakages in a 1,400mm water pipeline near Sector 63 green belt and another 1,000mm pipeline that passes through the Sector 121 service road. To undertake the repairs, we have shut off the Ganga water supply as of Monday. The work is likely to be completed by June 13,” Noida Authority senior manager (Ganga water), said work would be completed by June 13, reported The Times Of India.

All supply from sectors 19, 20, 22, 23, 25 and 27 will not be affected as water pressure will be low as the water is being diverted from those areas. “Supply to some of the newer sectors, like 71, 72, 88 and 122, may be affected due to the slow release of water from an alternate pipeline,” he added.

In another announcement, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) declared that the national capital will get three new water treatment plants to cater to the growing water needs of the city’s growing population. These facilities will be established at Iradat Nagar near Narela, Najafgarh in southwest Delhi, and Chhatarpur in South Delhi.

According to the new plants, they will supply 235 million gallons per day (MGD) of treated water to the capital. The Iradat Nagar and Chhatarpur plants will have a capacity of 80 MGD and Najafgarh will be 75 MGD.
