A significant development has emerged in the Silondi suicide case from Katni district in Madhya Pradesh. The police investigation revealed that the deceased took his own life due to unrequited love. The girl involved was reportedly unwilling to marry him, as his feelings were one-sided. The incident came to light on June 6, when the man’s body was discovered hanging from a tree in Silondi village. Authorities registered a case and launched an investigation. During the inquiry, it was found that the man used the girl’s dupatta to hang himself after she refused his proposal.
In this regard, Dheemarkheda police station in-charge, Mohammad Shahid Khan said that the police immediately began their investigation upon receiving information. It was found that the deceased, identified as 24-year-old Rohit Chakraborty, was a resident of Pindari and worked as a driver to support himself.
He was determined to marry a girl from the outpost area village with whom he was reportedly in a romantic relationship. However, the girl was unwilling to marry him, which led to tensions between them. On the day of the unfortunate incident, a heated argument broke out between the two at the Silondi bus stand. The situation escalated to the point where police intervention was required. During questioning, the girl clearly stated that she did not wish to marry him. The boy disappointed after hearing the decision of the girl, took the extreme step and hanged himself to death.
Reportedly, in the year 2013-14, the father of the deceased boy, Bal Govind Chakraborty, had killed his wife by burning her alive in Bandh village. He is lodged in the central jail. Rohit was the only son and there is a wave of mourning in the family due to this incident.
