New Delhi: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has again reiterated his point of making Rahul Gandhi the Congress President. In the important meeting of the Congress, a unanimous resolution has been passed to make Rahul Gandhi the President.
‘Elections will determine presidency’
However, Rahul Gandhi has made his stand clear on the matter. He recently said amid internal appeals, “There is no confusion in my mind. Whether I will become the president (of Congress), it will be clear when elections are held for the post of president.”

Rahul Gandhi should be the Cong President: Ashok Gehlot
According to the spokesperson of the party, Chief Minister Gehlot said in the meeting that his feeling is that Rahul Gandhi should take over the reins of the party by becoming the President of Congress. State President Dotasra supported him and all the newly elected representatives present raised their hands in support.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Rajasthan minister PS Khachariwa said a resolution was passed which read, “Whatever the national president (Sonia Gandhi) decides will be accepted with regard to the appointment of state heads.”
He further said, “Chief Minister Gehlot has moved another proposal to appoint Rahul Gandhi as the party chief.”

While the Congress revives its outreach at the grassroots with its public relations program, the Bharat Jodi Yatra, senior party leaders are also looking at other concerns like the leadership. Now, with the election of party president just weeks away, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday passed a resolution to re-appoint Rahul Gandhi as Congress chief.
New President will be declared on Oct 18
After a meeting last month, the party’s top decision-making body – the Congress Working Committee (CWC) had announced that elections for the crucial post would be held on October 17 and results would be declared on October 18.
