Nayab Singh Saini-Led Govt Passes Floor Test In Haryana

Newly elected Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday tabled a motion seeking vote of confidence in the assembly, following a day after taking oath as CM. Assembly speaker Gian Chand Gupta given nod to the motion and fixed two hours for discussing the motion.

The new Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini-led government successfully passed the floor test in the state assembly today, on March 13. Saini garnered the support of 48 MLAs, while the opposition consisted of the remaining members.

Assembly speaker Gian Chand Gupta given nod to the motion and fixed two hours for discussing the motion.

As the matter of the trust vote was taken up in the assembly, several Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) MLAs including Devender Singh Babli, Ram Kumar Gautam, Ishwar Singh, Ram Niwas and Jogi Ram Sihag staged a walkout.

JJP also issued a whip to its 10 legislators asking them to remain absent from the House during voting on the motion.

Prior to the Chief Minister initiating the motion, Congress MLAs raised queries with the Speaker regarding the necessity of calling for an assembly session and issuing directives late at night. Senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda emphasized, “There was no immediate crisis,” asserting that sufficient time was not provided to the MLAs.

Congress MLAs BB Batra and Rao Dan Singh similarly expressed doubts about the urgency of convening the session.
