Gwalior: In a bizarre incident, a 16 year old granddaughter allegedly killed her 65 year old grandfather in Madhya Pradesh, as per the police officials. The incident took place on March 25. After thorough investigation, the police have identified the minor granddaughter as the main suspect in the murder case that occurred on Saturday.
Ramswaroop Rathore, a 65-year-old retired Home Guard soldier, lived in village Pandokhar in Datia. He was residing in Gwalior with his 16-year-old granddaughter. They were last seen in the area until Holi, after which they disappeared, according to neighbours.

Additional SP Niranjan Sharma revealed that the 16-year-old granddaughter of the deceased, Ramswaroop Rathore, used to communicate with someone on her mobile phone and frequently used social media. This behaviour angered her grandfather, Ramswaroop Rathore, significantly. He confiscated her mobile phone, smashed it, and even physically assaulted her. The granddaughter was deeply hurt by the incident and devised a plan to kill her grandfather as a result.
The Additional SP stated that the minor initially obtained sleeping pills and then prepared hot halwa for her grandfather. She mixed 15 sleeping pills into the halwa and served it to her grandfather. After consuming the dessert, Ramswaroop Rathore began to fall into a deep sleep. Initially, the elderly man sat on a chair, but when he went to the restroom, the granddaughter pushed him into a box, pretending to assist him. She then sat on his chest and strangled him to death.

A day before her grandfather’s death, the granddaughter called her father, Mahesh Rathore in Datia, alleging that her grandfather was being assaulted in a financial dispute. On March 28, she made a distressing call to her family, claiming her grandfather had been murdered and she was locked in a dark room.
The family hurried to Gwalior and found the elderly man’s body locked in a box while the girl was missing. Upon police investigation, the granddaughter was found hiding on a neighbor’s terrace and taken to the police station for questioning.
ASP Niranjan Sharma stated that the FIR under Section 302 IPC has been lodged at the Madhavganj police station.
