Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered the state's cyber police to take action against "objectionable" content related to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj on Wikipedia

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said the state cyber department has been directed to remove objectionable content against Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj from the encyclopaedia “Wikipedia.”

“We strongly condemn the kind of statements written against Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj on Wikipedia. We have instructed our cyber department officials to take necessary action and communicate with the relevant authorities managing the platform to ensure that such misinformation is removed immediately.” said Fadnavis while speaking to reporters in Mumbai.

The directions from CM came after objectionable content against Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was found on Wikipedia, which triggered outrage on social media platforms.

Notably, last week, Vicky Kaushal’s starrer “Chavva” was released, after which many people visited Wikipedia, and they found objectionable content. Later, people demanded action on social media.
