The fourth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections commenced sharply at 7 AM today, covering 96 seats across 10 states and Union Territories. West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh are under scrutiny due to numerous high-profile candidates contesting.
Simultaneously, voting is underway for all 175 Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh and 28 legislative assembly seats in Odisha.
As of now, voters have completed polling in three phases across 283 Lok Sabha constituencies in 20 states and Union Territories.
Voters are currently casting their votes in 10 states and Union Territories, namely Andhra Pradesh (25 seats), Bihar (5 seats), Jharkhand (4 seats), Madhya Pradesh (8 seats), Maharashtra (11 seats), Odisha (4 seats), Telangana (17 seats), Uttar Pradesh (13 seats), West Bengal (8 seats), and Jammu and Kashmir (1 seat).

A total of 1,717 candidates are contesting, and more than 19 lakh polling officials have been deployed across 1.92 lakh polling stations. This phase includes 17.70 crore eligible voters, of which 8.73 crore are women.
Most important candidates for Lok Sabha Election Phase 4
Contestants include former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav contesting from the Kannur seat, Union Minister Ajay Mishra Teni seeking re-election despite controversy, and battles in West Bengal featuring Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and TMC’s Mahua Moitra. Actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha is contesting against BJP’s SS Ahluwalia in Asansol, while Dilip Ghosh faces off against Trinamool Congress’s Kirti Azad in Bardhaman-Durgapur.
In Andhra Pradesh, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and Andhra Pradesh Congress president YS Sharmila are in the fray. Maharashtra sees BJP’s Raosaheb Danve and Pankaja Munde contesting from Jalna and Beed, respectively.
Polling is also happening in the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat in Jammu and Kashmir, marking the first election in the Valley post Article 370 abrogation. Parties like the National Conference, People’s Democratic Party, and Apni Party have fielded candidates.
Over 40 MPs from the BJP-led NDA represent these 96 seats. Weather forecasts by the India Meteorological Department suggest normal to below normal temperatures with no heatwave conditions in the polling areas.
