Dilip Ghosh, the former West Bengal BJP chief and current candidate for the Bardhaman-Durgapur Lok Sabha seat, faced criticism for a purported video clip in which he derided the family background of Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee.

In the clip, the 59-year-old BJP leader remarked, “When Didi goes to Goa, she becomes Goa’s daughter, in Tripura she says I am Tripura’s daughter, decide who is your father, this is not right.”

BJP MP also mocked the TMC’s slogan for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, “Bangla Nijer Meye ke chai (Bengal wants its own daughter).”

After facing backlash, Shrinate removed the contentious remarks from all her social media accounts, asserting that they were not posted by her but by someone else who had access to her accounts.
