India, the biggest democracy in the world, is going to cast its vote for the 18th Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The Election Commission of India with its chief Rajiv Kumar announces the polling dates for general elections as well as four assembly elections at the press conference which begins at 3 today, on Saturday.
The road to the centre goes via Uttar Pradesh. Of course, because the state has a whopping 80 seats. Here's when polling is to happen on its hot seats:
Varanasi - June 1
Gorakhpur - June 1
Lucknow - May 20
Rae Bareli - May 20
Amethi - May 20
Mainpuri - May 7
Azamgarh - May 25
After losing its stature as a state, Jammu and Kashmir is going to have parliamentary polls for the first time for the five seats.
Udhampur - April 19
Jammu - April 26
Anantnag-Rajouri - May 7
Srinagar - May 13
Baramulla - May 20
The three states shall continue to cast votes throughout the phases from the first to the seventh before the counting happens on June 4.

As per the data of ECI, there are 49.7 crore male voters and 47.1 crore female voters. In total, there are 96.6 crore voters.
Around 10.5 polling stations, 1.5 crore election-conducting officers, and 55 lakh EVMs ready for action for Lok Sabha polls 2024.

As the Election Commission of India begins the date announcement for the Lok Sabha polls, the code of conduct will be enforced. A lot changes for the contesting political parties after the same.
Govt. can't make new announcements regarding schemes, can't use govt property or even vehicles for campaigns, and storage of cash or liquor beyond the mentioned limit is prohibited.
The saffron brigade has blown the bugle to mark its hattrick. If it happens, it will be the first time that the Congress party will see a consecutive third defeat. Congress has never seen this since Independence!
A lot has changed in India after the last Lok Sabha elections. Abrogation of article 370, Jammu & Kashmir turning into union territories but the number of seats is constant to date. The date sheet for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls was announced on March 10, 2019, whereas the results were declared on May 23. It was when the BJP grabbed 303 seats whereas the oldest political party i.e. Congress was limited to 52 seats.
