During the Ranchi Test on Sunday, Ashwin mentioned that his knee has been troubling him for some inexplicable reason, requiring about 10-12 balls to warm up properly. He emphasized the importance of finding his length before attempting the carrom ball to avoid conceding unnecessary runs, especially since they were in a chasing situation. Ashwin praised the entire bowling unit for their exceptional character.

In England’s second innings, Ashwin claimed a five-wicket haul, while Kuldeep Yadav also impressed with four wickets. Ashwin applauded Kuldeep’s performance, particularly his focus on improving his run-up and momentum. He acknowledged Kuldeep’s skill in imparting revolutions on the ball and varying the pace and trajectory effectively. Despite claiming a fifer himself, Ashwin humorously acknowledged “stealing” it from Kuldeep, recognizing the nature of the game.
