Kashmir: The picturesque Kashmir Valley is enduring a severe cold snap, with Srinagar recording its coldest night of the season at a chilling minus 6 degrees Celsius. The frigid temperatures have frozen parts of the iconic Dal Lake, creating a stunning yet stark winter landscape.
According to meteorological officials, the temperature in Srinagar dropped significantly from the previous night’s minus 4.5 degrees Celsius, marking a dramatic shift in the weather. This recent cold wave has been described as one of the harshest experienced this season, with temperatures plunging four degrees below the seasonal average.
The biting cold has not only affected daily life but has also caused several water bodies to freeze over, including sections of the famed Dal Lake. Residents across the valley are grappling with frozen water supply lines, prompting local authorities to issue a yellow cold wave alert that will remain in effect until December 22.
